Villanova’s Arcidiacano, Ochefu latch on with Spurs, Wizards respectively

The national champion Villanova Wildcats didn’t have any players taken in last night’s NBA Draft, a rare occurrence. But the team’s two senior leaders, Ryan Arcidiacono and Daniel Ochefu, were quickly snapped up by NBA teams after the draft ended.

The San Antonio Express-News is reporting that Arch received a partially guaranteed two-year deal with the Spurs, and he will play summer league for them. Even though he wasn’t drafted, the Langhorne native ended up latching on with one of the NBA’s premier organizations.

"I felt good about the coaches and the organization and the practice facility, but I didn't know what to expect," he told the Philadelphia Inquirer Friday. "I was sitting with my parents and my siblings [Thursday night] watching the draft and thinking I would have my best chance with the Spurs."

Arcidiacono worked out for 11 other teams besides San Antonio, including the Sixers.

Ochefu, Arch’s teammate and the player who mopped the floor and set a screen for him before “The Shot Heard ‘Round The World,” will play for the Washington Wizards summer league team.
