BAFTA announces nominations; 'The Favourite' leads; Bradley Cooper breaks record

Entertainment Award Season
A STAR IS BORN Clay Enos/Warner Brothers Pictures

Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in "A Star is Born."

The British Academy of Film and Televisions Arts has announced its nominations for the 2018 film year. "The Favourite" leads with 12 nominations in total, including best film, outstanding British film, leading actress and supporting actress.

Bradley Cooper broke a record for "A Star is Born," which received seven nominations - five of which were for Cooper alone, a first for the BAFTA awards. This includes best film, best actor, director, adapted screenplay and original music. Prior to this George Clooney held the record with four nominations in 2005.

Aside from "A Star is Born," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "First Man," and "Roma" also received seven nominations. "Vice" received six nominations, while "BlacKkKlansman" received five nominations.

"The Favourite" is the only film that is nominated in both best film and outstanding British film categories. Olivia Coleman, who won the best actress Golden Globe award for “The Favourite,” is nominated for the first time in film, but the actress has received three BAFTA TV awards.

"Roma" also received a best film nomination, which it was excluded from at the Golden Globes. Other nominees include "BlacKkKlansman," "The Favourite," "Green Book," and "A Star is Born."

Will Christian Bale take home another best actor award for “Vice?" Will Olivia Coleman kill it again for leading actress? With the BAFTA supporting actor category featuring the exact same group of people from the Golden Globes (Adam Driver, Mahershala Ali, Richard E. Grant, Sam Rockwell and Tiothee Chalamet) will someone new take home best supporting actor or will Mahershala Ali be the king?

The BAFTA ceremony will take place on Feb. 10. See the full list of nominees below.
