Christie admits to rockin' and rollin' to more than the rhythm method

N.J. governor speaks candidly on birth control, draws light laughter at town hall meeting

Gov. Chris Christie candidly broached the topic of birth control Tuesday, providing late-night fodder two days before the first Republican presidential primary debate.

"I'm a Catholic, but I've used birth control — and not just the rhythm method," the New Jersey Republican said at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire.

Christie made the remark after saying that "we should all acquit ourselves" in a manner consistent to whatever religious teachings one might hold.

A video from the event reveals the remark was met with light laughter from the crowd. One man pictured in the video immediately placed his head in his hand.

"My church has a teaching against birth control," Christie continued. "Does that make me an awful Catholic because I believe and practiced that function during part of my life? I don't think so."
