The calendar turns to 2026 with a packed week of events across Philadelphia, mixing fireworks, family outings, longtime traditions and a few meaningful moments tied to the city’s history.
Tuesday marks the final days of several seasonal attractions, including the Holiday Garden Railway at Morris Arboretum & Gardens and LumiNature at the Philadelphia Zoo, both wrapping up their runs after weeks of festive displays.
Wednesday brings New Year’s Eve celebrations citywide. Fireworks return to the Delaware River waterfront with shows at 6 p.m. and midnight, while the Benjamin Franklin Parkway hosts a new free concert headlined by LL Cool J, complete with its own midnight fireworks. Elsewhere, venues across the city are ringing in the new year with everything from adults-only parties at spots like Fringe Bar and the Moshulu to kid-friendly celebrations at the Please Touch Museum and Legoland Discovery Center, plus all-ages fun at places like Cherry Street Pier and Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest.
The celebration continues Thursday as the Philadelphia Mummers Parade takes over Broad Street, with thousands of performers ushering in the new year through music, costumes and long-running tradition.
Looking ahead to Saturday, the Athenaeum of Philadelphia launches 52 Weeks of Firsts, kicking off a yearlong series highlighting milestones and innovations connected to the city’s 250th anniversary.
