Sorry Philly EDM enthusiasts, but Safe in Sound probably isn’t coming to Philly

The Philadelphia area is a hotbed for summer concerts, with venues from Festival Pier, Camden’s BB&T Pavilion, and the takeover of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for the Jay Z sponsored Made in America music festival near the end of the summer.

But for some EDM-lovers and bass enthusiasts, the Safe in Sound Festival is up there at the pinnacle of music festivals with the likes of Electric Daisy Carnival, better known as EDC.

Safe in Sound claims to be a first of its kind festival experience with a new 150,000-watt rig that its sponsor, PK Sound, promises to be the “most powerful touring sound system ever used for an EDM tour,” according to the Safe in Sound Facebook Page.

On Monday, Safe in Sound announced headliners Borgore, Snails, Slander, NGHTMRE, Flux Pavilion, Noisia, and Zomboy, with other artists Terravita, Kayzo, Must Die, Boombox Cartel, and Eptic. Organizers also announced tour dates for 22 cities, and to the dismay of some on Twitter, Philly wasn't on the list this year, despite stops in 2014 and 2015.

"[The producers] are still trying to make a Philly date happen," Safe in Sound publicist Brittany Sabra Bowen said Monday afternoon. "Later this week, we hopefully will have a final answer on Philly being added or not."
