One South Jersey preteen's pink pancakes with maraschino cherry juice earned him a spot as a finalist on Fox's "MasterChef Jr."

Although Andrew Zappley, 12, of West Deptford, knows the outcome of the show — he spent four to five weeks with his dad in Los Angeles filming last spring — he is sworn to secrecy, Courier-Post reported.

Zappley said his pancakes that earned him a finalist spot were "probably the best I ever made," but his specialty is "fancy, luxurious mashed potatoes."

Zappley does a lot of cooking in his household — and is self-taught. His mom, Karen, said he has plans for furthering his cooking education.

"He already knows he wants to go to a cooking high school," she said. "And on to Johnson and Wales in Rhode Island."

You can catch what Zappley will whip up next — and if he wins the contest — on the show's final episode, which airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
