In 2017, the Eagles made running back additions in LeGarrette Blount and Donnel Pumphrey. They'll also likely get more games out of Lane Johnson this season, and as a result, better offensive line continuity. More importantly though, they added some quality to the their receiving corps in Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith, which will force opposing defenses to respect the possibility of the deep ball, thus helping open up more opportunities for bigger plays on the ground.

"So far, that's really where I've been a lot, just catching the ball," said Pumphrey. "They've been working me from the slot a lot, moving me around as a running back out of two-running back sets. I look forward to catching the ball and showing that I can catch the ball."

The Philadelphia Eagles didn't want to lose Jeremy Maclin two years ago in free agency, after Maclin put up career highs (at the time) in catches (85), receiving yards (1318), and TDs (10). In fact, they made a him a pretty good offer, however, the Kansas City Chiefs made a better one, and geographically speaking, allowed Maclin to return to Missouri, where he grew up.

A long time ago in a galaxy far away, the Philadelphia Eagles had good cornerbacks. I know, the notion seems incomprehensible, but it really happened. One of the best cornerback tandems in team history was Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor, who played together in Philly from 1996 to 2003.

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Thursday that they "agreed to terms" with rookie first-round pick Derek Barnett. The phrasing the Eagles used would indicate that Barnett has not yet actually signed his contract.
