WATCH: Teens accused of shoplifting sought in stabbing of Center City clerk

Philadelphia police are seeking these two teen girls for their alleged involvement in the stabbing of an employee of a Center City store on April 8.

Philadelphia police are seeking two teen girls accused of stabbing an employee of a Center City Five Below store after they were allegedly caught shoplifting. 

According to police, the incident happened at 6 p.m. on April 8 when an employee at the store, located at 1529 Chestnut St., attempted to detain two females accused of shoplifting. 

Police said the two girls fled, but the employee followed them to the corner of 16th and Chestnut streets and tried to retrieve items that were allegedly stolen. 

However, when the employee tried to get the items, both girls allegedly pulled out knives and stabbed the employee in her neck and back, according to authorities.

The suspects then fled and were last seen headed north on 16th Street, then east on Ranstead Street, police said. 

The employee was taken to Jefferson hospital, where police said she was treated for injuries.

Police have shared social media images of the suspects they are seeking.

Police said both girls are believed to be black females who are about 18 years old. They each have a medium complexion. Police said one girl is believed to be about 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 180 pounds, had her hair in a bun, had thick eyebrows and was wearing glasses and light-colored jeans. 

The second female was about 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 140 pounds, had long black hair and wore dark clothing, according to police.
