At least 40 shots were fired in the Haddington neighborhood of Philadelphia on Wednesday night, according to police. Two 17-year-old boys were struck and hospitalized.

Two teenagers were hospitalized after being shot in West Philly late Wednesday night. One of them as in critical condition, police said.

Police are searching for at least two suspects, NBC10 reported. The shooting took place around 10:30 p.m. on the 100 block of North Redfield Street in the city's Haddington neighborhood.

More than 40 bullets were fired from at least two semi-automatic weapons, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. Shell casings indicate one was a rifle and another was a handgun.

Both teenagers are 17-year-old boys, police said. One of them flagged down a police officer after getting shot in the shoulder. Police transported him to a nearby hospital before returning to the scene and finding the other boy, who had a gunshot wound to his chest.

According to police, the gunfire hit three parked cars. A bullet also entered a second-floor window of a nearby home, striking a  wall near where a 20-year-old woman was sleeping.

"She's very lucky that she was lying in bed when the bullet went through her window in the room where she was sleeping," Small told NBC. "She's very shaken up."

Police have not made any arrests. Investigators are hoping that surveillance footage will provide evidence as they continue to investigate and pursue the suspects, Small said.
