Study: Phillies fans have 2nd worst grammar, just above the Mets

While the Phillies sit at the bottom of the NL East standings this year with the worst record in baseball, the rival Mets are less than two games out of first place in the division.

However, Philadelphia fans can claim one victory over their hated neighbors to the north. According to a new Wall Street Journal study, Phillies fans have better grammar than Mets fans.

Don't get too pompous, though. Philly sits second-to-last in the study, while New York is a spot below at the very bottom.

The study, conducted by the automated-proofreading company Grammarly for the Wall Street Journal, scanned 150 reader comments on the news section for each team and counted the number of punctuation, spelling and grammar mistakes made.

Mets fans made an average of 13.9 mistakes per 100 words, while Phillies fans were only slightly better, making 13.5 mistakes per 100 words.

Apparently, english teachers in Cleveland are doing something right. Indians fans made just 3.6 mistakes per 100 words, which was the best among all MLB fan bases.
