An investigation is underway into the sudden death of an 8-year-old girl in Camden on New Year's Eve, authorities said.
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Stratford Police Department announced Wednesday that a 9-1-1 phone call was placed around 1:50 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 about an unresponsive person on the unit block of Union Avenue.
Responding officers arrived at the residence and found the 8-year-old girl with undisclosed injuries. She was rushed to Kennedy University Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m.
Investigators have determined that only family members were present at the time of the incident and have ruled out unknown individuals.
The investigation is ongoing.
