Predictions for the 2017 Phillies season

It may be cold and rainy outside, but by the time Monday rolls around, baseball will be here. Real baseball. Where the games actually count and the lineup isn't full of a bunch of young guys with high numbers that you've never even seen before.

For the Phillies, there's still going to be some of that when they open their season in Cincinnati, but that is the nature of a rebuild. Some of the names remain the same, but many are new.

Don't worry, you''ll know most of them before long, for better or worse. And who knows, one of them could be the next Jimmy Rollins or Chase Utley or Ryan Howard or Cole Hamels. At least that's the hope.

After finishing the 2016 season with a 71-91 record, the Phillies will look to improve on that mark as Matt Klentak and Andy MacPhail continue in their efforts toward building a contender.

Here's how we at PhillyVoice – writers Ryan Lawrence, Rich Hofmann and Matt Mullin, plus executive editor Matt Romanoski – see this season playing out for Pete Mackanin and the Phils:
