Suspect arrested in fatal shooting of man found on St. Joseph's campus

Tyreese Quinerley, 39, turned himself in to Lower Merion police and Montgomery County detectives on Tuesday. He is accused of shooting and killing 39-year-old Jefferson Shackford on Sunday night, before dragging the victim onto the sidewalk and calling 911.

Dilworth Park's roller rink reopens Friday

The Rothman Orthopaedics Roller Rink at Dilworth Park. will be open from April 19 to June 30. Tickets cost $8 for kids 10 and younger, and $10 for everyone else. Skate rentals are $6. Tickets can be reserved online in advance or bought on site. The rink opens every day at 11 a.m. It closes at 8:45 p.m. except for Friday and Saturday nights, when it shuts down at 10 p.m.

Atlantic City mayor and wife charged with abusing teenage daughter

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. and his wife, La'Quetta Small, the superintendent of Atlantic City Public Schools, were charged Monday with endangering the welfare of their teenage daughter. The abuse allegedly occurred from December 2023 to January 2024, when the girl was 15 and 16 years old, according to the prosecutor's office.

People with obesity may benefit most when exercise is done in the evening

Working out in the evening may be linked to a lower risk for cardiovascular disease, microvascular disease and premature death among people with obesity, according to a new study. The study of nearly 30,000 adults with obesity also found the frequency of three-minute vigorous activities may be more important than total daily workout time.

Woman charged in stabbings of 24-year-old, 1-year-old in Center City, police say

Takeira Hester, 28, has been arrested and charged following two separate stabbings in Center City on Saturday that injured a 24-year-old woman and a 1-year-old boy, police say. The attacks, which police say were random, occurred around 8 a.m. on the 1300 block of Chancellor St. and around 12:45 p.m. on the 300 block of S. 18th St. Hester was also wanted in New York City for aggravated assault.

Reclectic, which sells discounted merchandise from Urban Outfitters brands at the Philadelphia Mills mall, is hosting a clothing customization workshop in honor of Earth Month. TD Bank unveils ATM for dogs at South Philly location

TD Bank's South Philly location, at 2201 S. Broad St., has debuted a dog ATM, which dispenses free biscuits to dogs. To celebrate the opening of the dog ATM, TD Bank has donated $5,000 to the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and will host a pet adoption event on Saturday, April 13.
