Construction of new St. Joseph's dorm to cause traffic stoppages on City Avenue through late March

Traffic on City Avenue near St. Joseph's University will stop twice each weekday through Wednesday, March 27, 2024 due to construction work on the new Sister Thea Bowman Hall at City and Cardinal avenues. Subsurface blasting is taking place each weekday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Horns will sound in the minutes before each blast.

'Golden Bachelorette' dating show to premiere this fall, following 'Golden Bachelor' success

ABC has announced that 'The Golden Bachelorette,' a dating show spinoff, will premiere next fall. Following the success of 'The Golden Bachelor,' starring 72-year-old Gerry Turner, this new iteration of the hit series will give a woman in her 'golden years' the chance to find love. The casting has not yet been announced but the lead could be chosen from the cast of 'Golden Bachelor,' which included fan-favorite Delco contestant Susan Noles.

'Abbott Elementary,' the Emmy-winning sitcom by West Philly-native Quinta Brunson, has been renewed for a fourth season by ABC. The mockumentary-style series, set in a Philly public school, is currently airing its third season Wednesdays at 9 p.m.

Police searching for suspect who allegedly fired gun during 'meet-up' near Temple University campus

Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly fired a handgun twice during a large juvenile gathering near Temple University's campus on Saturday evening. No injuries were reported. As of Sunday morning, seven juveniles between the ages of 13 and 16 have been cited for disorderly conduct, authorities say.

Lifetime movie recounts a 2014 Philly kidnapping and a mother's efforts to bring her daughter home

'Abducted Off the Street: The Carlesha Gaither Story' premieres on Lifetime on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. The film is based on the 2014 abduction of Carlesha Freeland-Gaither, who was taken off a Philadelphia street and taken to Maryland. She was rescued a few days later thanks to surveillance footage, witness accounts and her own self-preservation tactics.
