Devron Brown, a Philadelphia man who fraudulently obtained nearly $1 million in federal Paycheck Protection Program funds during the coronavirus pandemic, has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison. He used the money to buy a home in Florida and to cover other personal expenses. He was caught by federal authorities when he attempted to apply for more money in June 2021.

Brooklyn subway shooting suspect Frank James allegedly rented a short-term apartment in North Philadelphia in late March in the weeks leading up to Tuesday's attack, which injured 29 people. Investigators raided the property in Nicetown, discovering ammunition, personal belongings and other supplies. James also allegedly had a storage unit with a weapons cache in Hunting Park, where he rented the U-Haul truck he took to New York before the incident.

Frank James, the 62-year-old suspect in Tuesday morning's Brooklyn subway shooting, was taken into custody after a manhunt and will be charged with violating a law that prohibits terrorist and other violent attacks against mass transportation systems, officials said. James, who allegedly rented a U-Haul in Philadelphia before traveling to Brooklyn, seriously injured 10 people and wounded 19 others.

Nevaeh Jade Newswanger, 3, of Denver, Pennsylvania, died after she was swept over the edge of Whitewater Falls in North Carolina on Sunday evening, according to authorities. The girl was in the area with her family at the time of the tragic accident. Whitewater Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains, with a drop of more than 400 feet. The waterfalls and cascades cross from North Carolina into South Carolina.

Philadelphia is will again require people wear face masks indoors in indoor public spaces to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The change corresponds to the city's Mask Precaution response level.
