Philly native who founded DogVacay dies in Miami Beach boating accident

Aaron Hirschhorn, the 42-year-old founder of DogVacay and Gallant, died in a boating accident in Miami Beach on March 28, 2021. Hirschhorn appeared on ABC's "Shark Tank" in 2019 and secured an investment from Lori Greiner and Anne Wojcicki. He grew up in Philadelphia and attended Swarthmore College.

Victim in fatal Philadelphia Mills shooting was step-son of homicide detective

Dominic Billa, a 21-year-old man who was fatally shot Monday afternoon in the food court of the Philadelphia Mills mall, was the son of a homicide detective in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, authorities said. The Northeast Philly shopping mall was placed on lockdown following the incident, but the shooter remains at large.

Philadelphia's weekly COVID-19 case rates have doubled over the past month, partly spurred by the spread of variants. Health department officials are concerned that the latest wave of infections will harm the most vulnerable city residents who have not yet been vaccinated.

Manhunt underway for road rage shooter who killed Pennsylvania mom in North Carolina

Julie Eberly, 47, of Manheim, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot in a road rage incident in North Carolina on Thursday, March 25, 2021. Eberly was traveling with her husband to Hilton Head, South Carolina to celebrate their anniversary. The Robeson County Sheriff's Office has posted a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the man who fired shots at the family on I-95.

Atapco Properties has proposed an apartment complex at 4401 Ridge Ave. in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia. The building would include 185 residential units and ground floor commercial space. It would overlook the Falls Bridge and Schuylkill River.

College hockey player from New Jersey dies in Niagara Falls house fire

Patrick Romano, 23, of Toms River, New Jersey, was killed in a house fire in Niagara Falls on March 27, 2021. Romano was a junior at Niagara University and played for the club ice hockey team. He attended Toms River High School East in Ocean County.

FEMA to open second COVID-19 vaccine site in Philadelphia

FEMA will open another COVID-19 vaccine site in Philadelphia in early April at the main building of the Esperanza campus in Franklinville. City officials say the new community clinic will provide between 1,500 to 2,000 shots per day.

Former Villanova football player faces new charges as third accuser comes forward

Villanova University student Iyanu Elijah Solomon has been charged in three sexual incidents that allegedly occurred on the suburban Philadelphia campus — two in 2019 and one in 2020, according to prosecutors. Solomon's attorney has called all of the allegations baseless.
