50-ton First Amendment tablet to find new home at Philly's National Constitution Center

The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia will receive a 50-ton marble tablet engraved with the words of the First Amendment. The tablet will be installed over the course of several months and will be displayed at the Grand Hall Overlook, the second-floor atrium overlooking historic Independence Mall. The tablet is a gift from the Freedom Fund and formerly was displayed at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.

Former Sixer Shawn Bradley was paralyzed in Utah bicycle crash

The Philadelphia 76ers wished Shawn Bradley and his family well after the former top draft pick was seriously injured in a bicycle crash in Utah in January. Bradley, 48, was paralyzed and underwent surgery after a car ran into him from behind while he was on his bike near his home in St. George.

Traffic circle, apartment building planned for dangerous Fishtown intersection

Construction has begun on a roundabout at the intersection of Frankford Avenue, East York Street and Trenton Avenue in Fishtown. The troubled intersection is included in Philadelphia's High Injury Network. Developers also hope to construct an apartment building at the intersection.

Ice cream manufacturer Fieldbrook Foods is facing OSHA penalties stemming from a pair of incidents in which workers lost fingers at the company's facility in Lakewood, New Jersey. The company, which produces the Halo Top, Blue Bunny and Blue Ribbon brands, says it plans to dispute the government agency's findings.

COVID-19 vaccine site at Pa. Convention Center to reserve shots for eligible walk-ups – no appointment needed

Philadelphia's FEMA COVID-19 Vaccination Center at the Pennsylvania Convention Center will allow walk-up appointments to eligible city residents from Wednesday, March 17 through Monday, March 22. Walk-ups must be part of phase 1A or phase 1B of the city's vaccine distribution plan and must have proof that they live in one of 22 Philadelphia ZIP codes.

New Jersey man faces prison sentence for running over geese in Ocean County

Quintin Alec-Manning, 22, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty nearly two years after he intentionally ran over five geese with his car at a Home Depot parking lot in Toms River. Ocean County prosecutors will seek a 90-day prison sentence, community service and an order prohibiting Alec-Manning from owning or working with animals ever again.
