Tolls will rise to $6 on Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman and other DRPA bridges in September

The Delaware River Port Authority will increase tolls from $5 to $6 on the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Betsy Ross and Commodore Barry bridges beginning Sept. 1. The toll hike is the first to be approved on the bridges between Philadelphia and New Jersey since 2011.

Rob Ellis to replace Glen Macnow on SportsRadio 94WIP's Saturday morning show

Rob Ellis will take the place of retired SportsRadio 94WIP host Glen Macnow on the station's Saturday show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., joining Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Mike Sielski. Macnow retired after 31 years with the station. Sielski joined the show in 2022 after the retirement of longtime co-host Ray Didinger.

Man who fatally shot Temple student Sam Collington sentenced to decades in prison

Latif Williams, 19, was sentenced to spend 25 to 50 years in state prison for the fatal shooting of Sam Collington, a senior at Temple University who was killed during an attempted carjacking near campus in November 2021. Williams, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, was found guilty of third-degree murder in February.

Atlantic City to rebuild century-old Baltic Avenue Canal to combat flooding

Work has begun on a $22 million project to rebuild the Baltic Avenue Canal in Atlantic City, which is among the nation's most vulnerable coastal cities for flooding. The 1.8-mile underground canal was constructed in 1912 to manage stormwater runoff, but it has largely been defunct since the 1960s.

SEPTA ordered to correct safety issues found in Federal Transit Administration review

Federal regulators have given SEPTA a corrective action plan to address safety issues that have caused a growing number of problems for workers and customers. The safety management inspection was prompted by a three-week stretch last summer when SEPTA vehicles were involved in eight crashes. The Federal Transit Administration cited unsafe working conditions, inadequate staffing and operator fatigue as key causes for the incidents.

The attempted assassination of former Donald Trump in Pennsylvania prompted reactions and conspiracy theories on social media in the hours after the shooting on Saturday. Some of those remarks have cost people their jobs. Three Delaware County officials and a leader in Atlantic County, New Jersey have been fired or resigned as a results of comments they posted online.

Mike Jerrick, the longtime anchor of 'Good Day Philadelphia' on FOX29, recently underwent surgery to remove his prostate after he was diagnosed with cancer in May. Jerrick has been absent from the morning show for several weeks, but he expects to return before the end of the summer.

Man who restrained teen at Willow Grove Park Mall sentenced to 3 1/2 to 10 years in prison

Khalilh Evans, 45, of Philadelphia was sentenced to spend between 3 1/2 and 10 years in prison for the false imprisonment of a minor after he grabbed and restrained a 14-year-old girl at the Willow Grove Park Mall in July 2023.

'Welcome to Wrexham' to get spinoff series following Mexico's Club Necaxa

'Welcome to Wrexham,' the FX series led by actors and Welsh soccer club owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, has inspired an upcoming sports documentary show that will follow Club Necaxa of Liga MX in Mexico. McElhenney and Reynolds bought a minority stake in the club in May, joining multiple celebrity investors. For the new series, they'll team up with actress Eva Longoria.

I-95 capping project to close lanes on Columbus Boulevard until mid-2025, PennDOT says

Columbus Boulevard will have southbound lane closures beginning Monday and running through the middle of 2025 to allow for construction related to the capping of I-95. PennDOT will reduce the southbound roadway from three lanes to two between Race and Market streets and from three lanes to one between Market and Walnut streets.
