Shanika Mason, of Sharon Hill, turned herself into police on Wednesday, more than three months after striking Wilson on the 1600 block of South 57th Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. Wilson was knocked to the ground by the first impact, but as the striking vehicle fled the scene, the boy was hit again and sustained fatal injuries.
At the time of the accident, surveillance footage from a store located on South 57th Street depicted the tragic hit-and-run in full.
A full investigation was conducted by the Accident Investigation District and a warrant was submitted and approved for Mason's arrest. She will be charged with Homicide by Vehicle, Accident Involving Death and Involuntary Manslaughter. She will appear in court on August 17.
