Philadelphia Distilling's flagship spirit Bluecoat Gin is turning 20 this year. The liquor makers are creating a collaborative cocktail menu for the occasion.
Anniversary parties typically call for celebrating the happy couple or business marking a milestone. But the makers of Bluecoat Gin are toasting others for the brand's 20th year.
Next month, Philadelphia Distilling will unveil a collaborative cocktail menu that honors bars and restaurants instrumental to Bluecoat's growth. Most of them will be city institutions — including Parc, Suraya, Bok Bar and Vernick Fish — though a few out-of-towners made the cut. All 20 drinks will be available to order at Philadelphia Distilling's Fishtown location starting Sept. 24.
"Bluecoat has always been bigger than the bottle," said Nicole Enders, the events and marketing operations manager for Philadelphia Distilling. "It’s been built by the people who believed in it — from the bartenders who poured it early on to the restaurants that featured it on their menus. Twenty years later, this is our chance to thank those people and celebrate the community that got us here."
In crafting these Bluecoat cocktails, the liquor makers are attempting to, well, distill each establishment's personality. The Suraya special, for example, nods to the restaurant's Lebanese cuisine with a levant-spiced sour featuring pomegranate, lime, bitters, aleppo pepper and za'atar. Parc's spritz similarly incorporates the blanc de blancs wine and herbs de provenance stocked in French bistros. Wilder got antipasto in a collins glass; its drink is garnished with cantaloupe and prosciutto.
Here's the entire list of bars and restaurants on the 20th anniversary menu:
• Bar Betsie (Washington, D.C.)
• Beyond the Pale (New York)
• Bok Bar
• The Gin Room (St. Louis)
• Izzy's (Ardmore)
• Jaffa
• La Jefa
• Liberty Point
• The Library Bar at the Rittenhouse Hotel
• New Wave Cafe
• Ocean Casino Resort (Atlantic City)
• Parc
• Post Haste
• Ranstead Room
• Ripplewood (Ardmore)
• Suraya
• Valerie (New York)

Philadelphia Distilling will also host pop-ups and welcome mixologists from some of the establishments above to guest bartend for the monthslong anniversary celebration of its flagship spirit. The company is pointing interested customers to its social media and this landing page for updates.
