Beer for Presidents' Day: Ales of the Revolution by Yards Brewing

How better to celebrate Presidents Day then by clicking mugs for our Founding Fathers?

  • Come celebrate our Founding Fathers on Presidents Day with our Ales of the Revolution:
  • The featured beers on tap all day long will be General Washington's Tavern Porter, Thomas Jefferson's Tavern Ale, Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce, and Philadelphia Pale Ale. Meet the brewery reps from 4-6pm!

Philadelphia's Yards Brewing Company in Northern Liberties features a trio of 'Ales of the Revolution’ brews in honor of our presidents past, brewed using actual recipes dating back to the Revolutionary era and found in texts from the times.

According to Steve Marshington, marketing manager at Yards', General Washington sent his recipe to his officers in the field during the Revolutionary War, while The Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce was from a group of letters that Franklin wrote that outlined the use of spruce in ale.

We source blue spruce clippings from a local organic farmer, steeping them in the kettle to create this one-of-a-kind deep amber ale.
