Natural Born Rocker. This should be Juliette Lewis' official tagline. She has had a solid acting career, of course, but on Monday night, Lewis showed an inherent deftness for rock linguistics — whipping her microphone cord like a lasso and letting her hair flow through the air in waves that challenged physics.
Working on new material for the first time in seven years, Lewis put the energy and creativity of her bluesy grunge sound on full display. A cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary” mixed well with songs like “I Know Trouble” and new track “Hello Hero.” It was a supercharged performance.
The New Regime opened with a guitar lesson from Ilan Rubin of Paramore and Nine Inch Nails fame.
