After a wait of more than 15 years, hip-hop luminary Dr. Dre has announced he will release an album in August to coincide with the debut of the N.W.A. biopic "Straight Outta Compton," which hits theaters August 14.

According to The Inquisitr, the rapper will use Apple's new streaming service Apple Music to release 'Compton: a Sountrack by Dr. Dre,' deepening his relationship as an executive with the tech giant since selling his Beats headphone line to the company for $3.2 million in 2014.

Since 1999's classic '2001,' Dr. Dre has primarily been credited as a producer of major artists including Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game and Kendrick Lamar.

On his radio show, "The Pharmacy," Dre explained how the music he worked on during his dry period, specifically the abortive 'Detox,' wasn't up to his standard.  It was the making of the movie that inspired him to complete the new album, The Verge reports.

"I was leaving the set, going to the studio, and I felt myself just being so inspired by the movie that I started recording an album. I kept it under wraps, and now the album is finished. It’s an ‘inspired-by’ album, it’s inspired by Straight Outta Compton."

The album will be available August 7. See the complete tracklist below.
