Another hotel in Cape May County has been purchased by luxury hotel management company Icona Resorts.

The Palace Hotel of Cape May, which will undergo a complete renovation and become Icona Cape May, is Icona's third hotel in Cape May County.

Icona plans to rebuild the oceanfront hotel and convert it into a luxury property. Since the property is just a few miles away, all guests of Icona Cape May will be automatically enrolled in the Icona Diamond Beach Club.

Icona Resorts built and launched its Icona Diamond Beach two years ago. The resort has since become the No. 1 rated beachfront hotel in New Jersey on TripAdvisor. Icona plans to expand its luxury brand throughout Cape May County and beyond.

The luxury resort group recently purchased the Golden Inn in Avalon.

"We believe the market has been understated in South Jersey for a five-star hotel experience," Eustace Mita, owner and founder of Icona Resorts, told PhillyVoice after the purchase of the Golden Inn.

The conversion will begin in January.
