Entrepreneur and New Jersey native Rod Silva is throwing his hat into the 2016 presidential race.

The founder of the popular Muscle Maker Grill franchise, which has 60 locations in 11 states, will campaign as an Independent on a platform promoting improved health in the United States, NJ.com reports.

Silva, 43, says he close to getting on the ballot in Colorado and will be traveling across the country to collect signatures and recruit volunteers in the coming weeks.

The Piscataway resident, who launched Muscle Maker in 1995, says his motivation stems from losing his father to a heart attack. The experience drove him to focus on achieving a healthy lifestyle with plenty of exercise and a well-rounded diet.

Among the key points of Silva's campaign will be to advocate for preventive health care, which he says will cut down on billions of dollars saddling the U.S. economy.

Silva hopes his experience as a successful businessman and champion of health will draw the support of the American people as he embarks on the campaign trail.
