Pennsylvania senator jokes that Patriots fan may have pulled Capitol fire alarms

Lawmaker pokes fun at incident at Steelers hotel

A Pennsylvania lawmaker jokingly suggested that a Patriots fan might be responsible for fire alarms that went off at his Harrisburg hotel and the state Capitol Tuesday.

State Sen. John Eichelberger, R-Huntingdon, represents a portion of central Pennsylvania that's close to Steelers country. The Steelers lost in the AFC championship game to the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Sunday.

Steelers players were rudely awakened early Sunday before the game when Dennis Harrison allegedly pulled the fire alarm at the Boston airport hotel they were staying at.

Harrison, 25, allegedly told police he pulled the prank on a dare, reportedly saying, "I'm drunk. I'm stupid. I'm a Pats fan."

That incident is likely the basis of Eichelberger's suspicion. The state senator wrote in a post on his website Tuesday that he had several committee meetings at the Capitol, but at some point in the day, the alarm went off, causing an evacuation of about 20 minutes.

Eichelberger said the alarm also went off at his Hilton hotel earlier that morning.

"I think there’s a Patriots fan running loose in Harrisburg," Eichelberger said.
