Police are in a standoff with a person that's allegedly been firing paintball shots near Temple University's campus in North Philadelphia Sunday , injuring at least two, according to officials.

Police responded to a report of a person with a weapon as well as an assault at 1:56 p.m., said Officer Christine O'Brien, a spokesperson with the Philadelphia Police Department.

The university received complaints starting Saturday night of a similar incident which began again Sunday afternoon around the 1500 block of Diamond Street, said Brandon Lausch, a spokesperson for the university.

Lausch said that at least two people were hit, though no serious injuries were reported.

The person hid in his house when confronted by police. Surrounding streets have been blocked off. It's not clear where the person was firing from, Lausch said.

Temple issued a campus-wide TUAlert around 3 p.m. advising students to avoid the area due to "increased police activity."
