Sixers decide to bring back Christian Wood

The Baron Davis era of Delaware 87ers basketball looks like it will have to go on without Christian Wood. The rookie big man will be rejoining the Philadelphia 76ers, the team announced on Friday:

Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania had the news first. Ever since the Sixers lost out on JaKarr Sampson after the three-way deal with Houston and Detroit went awry, the team had an open 15th roster spot.

Undrafted out of UNLV, Wood played 14 games earlier this season for the Sixers. The 6’11” forward averaged 3.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. He was released in order to create a roster spot for Elton Brand back in January.

As most players tend to, Wood did some work down in the D-League. In 26 games, he averaged 15.8 points and 8.8 rebounds while posting a true shooting percentage of 58.3 percent. This included a 45-point, 14-rebound performance:

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the 20-year-old Wood was also the teammate out with Jahlil Okafor in Boston on that fateful November night.
