He spent the prior year covering state and local politics, including a $4 million Pennsylvania state Senate race. He previously covered Chester city government, the Chester Upland School District and high-school sports. Startup ice cream company among Philly vendors hoping to bask in DNC spotlight

Hundreds of businesses are providing a litany of products and services to the Democratic National Convention or its myriad related festivals, parties and rallies. The vendors range from merchandise providers to a company tasked with dropping thousands of balloons from the Wells Fargo Center rafters following Hillary Clinton's acceptance speech. They include caterers, florists and transportation service companies.

Darien Montae Thompson, 22; Omar Traik Davenport, 24; and Sekou Maliek Davenport, 21, allegedly sold guns that previously were reported stolen from homes and vehicles in Georgia, South Carolina and Pennsylvania. All three defendants were charged with dealing firearms without a license.
