Police arrest suspect in Center City assault on transgender woman

Philadelphia police have arrested a suspect in the alleged assault of a transgender woman in Center City on Friday afternoon.

According to investigators, the assault occurred around 4:40 p.m. Friday along the 1300 block of Filbert Street. The victim and two friends were allegedly approached by a male suspect who shouted homophobic and transphobic slurs at them. Police released video of the incident, apparently recorded on the victim's cell phone, on Saturday afternoon. 

According to 6ABC, investigators located the suspect early Sunday morning at SEPTA's Frankford Transportation Center. He was described as a 25-reay-old homeless man and was found wearing clothing that matched the outfit seen in the video above. 

The identity of the suspect was not immediately revealed, but he has reportedly been charged with assault.
