WXPN to host 5k run through Penn Park

Students get a discount on registration

The WXPN 5k Run will take place in October. The race benefits Musicians on Call.

WXPN will host a 5k run to benefit Musicians On Call on October 2. The program brings live music to patients in healthcare facilities, such as CHOP, Jefferson University Hospital and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. Registration for the fundraiser run is currently open.

The race may not be until the fall, but signing up early means discounts -- especially for students. Those 18 or older, with a valid student ID, can register for $25 while space lasts.

Early-bird registration for those past their school days is $40 until August 29. After, registration bumps up to $50 per person. Procrastinators will pay $60 on the day of.

The race course begins and ends at the Penn Park entrance across from the lower level of WXPN's World Cafe Live on Walnut Street. Runners will take off at 8:30 a.m. on race day.
