There is no place like home for the holidays, and that goes for animals, too.

More than 1,000 homeless pets from shelters throughout the Philadelphia region will gather at the 23rd Street Armory for a three-day weekend event, Friday to Sunday, Dec. 2-4, hoping to find forever homes.

Referred to as a mega adoption event sponsored by the Brandywine Valley SPCA and the Petco Foundation, the event is meant to make adoption easier, by bringing the animals together in one space, and cheaper, as there is no cost to attend and the cost to adopt an animal is just $20. Each animal available for adoption will be fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped.
