The Philadelphia Folk Festival is the longest continuous running event of its kind.

The 54th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival returns to Schwenksville Thursday, Aug. 13, through Sunday, Aug. 16. Philadelphia's answer to Woodstock is a long-running tradition putting national and local musicians in the spotlight for a weekend of both modern and classic folk and bluegrass music.

The music kicks off Thursday night with a special show for those camping out at the festival featuring Philly's own Low Cut Connie, Lindi Ortega and Tall Heights. All weekend the gates open to ticket holders at 10 a.m. with music starting off soon after and strumming along until midnight on Friday and Saturday and until 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Arlo Guthrie will finish out Friday night's lineup with a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the incident that inspired his "Alice's Restaurant" monologue. The 1969 film that followed will be screened after his set.

Singer-songwriter Irish Mythen closes out Saturday, right behind Lyle Lovett and His Large Band. North Mississippi Allstars will bring it all home at the end of Sunday night's lineup.

Plenty of local acts will take one of the festival's six stages over the weekend. Black Horse Motel, Kicking Down Doors, Man About A Horse, Levee Drivers, Jersey Corn Pickers, John Beacher, Kuf Knotz, Andrea Nardello, Lizanne Knott and PhillyBloco will all be performing.

One of PFF's biggest traditions is the juried craft fair that comes along with it. This year, dozens of artists working in wood, ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry and more will be displaying their work for sale or even demonstrating their craft.
