Officials with the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Woodlynne Police Department announced Wednesday the arrest of a suspect who allegedly attempted to a hold up a grocery store with a meat cleaver.

On Tuesday, according to authorities, 22-year-old Joseph Delozier, of Woodlynne, stormed into the D&D Market on the 1600 block of Woodlynne Road around 9 a.m. and threatened the owner with a meat cleaver. Delozier allegedly held the blade up to the owner's neck and stole his cell phone. The victim, who tried to block the blade, suffered minor cuts to his hand before fleeing the store and locking the door behind him.

Once outside, the victim was able to ask a passerby to call 911. The suspect, still inside, was later seen on surveillance footage taking money from the cash register and kicking open a back window.

As the suspect attempted to exit the window head first, authorities say he was met again by the store owner, who struck him with a rubber mallet. The suspect then got up and attempted to flee, but was chased by the victim until officers with the Woodlynne Police Department apprehended him in a nearby cemetery.

Delozier is has been charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to have weapons, and criminal mischief. He is being held at the Camden County Jail with bail set at $125,000.
