A small glitch in the analytics accounts of YouTube creators caused some of them to appear to be instant millionaires Monday morning.
Dreams of grandeur with new beach houses and diving into piles of gold – a la Scrooge McDuck – unfortunately will be just that – dreams.
The glitch in YouTube’s analytics was specifically tied to their YouTube Red Revenue calculations and caused videos with even just a handful of views to estimate tens of thousands of dollars in revenue. While the console does state that all dollar amounts are estimates, some of the estimates topped millions of dollars.
On Monday May 23rd, 2016 YouTube's analytics experienced a glitch that over estimated revenue earned.
