5+ festive cocktails to try this holiday season

This drink features Absolut Vanilla Vodka, Peppermint Schnapps, Grenadine, Sprit and Tröegs Mad Elf, a ruby red beer brewed in Hersey that tastes of cherries, honey and cocoa with notes of cinnamon, clove and allspice.

This December, bars in Philly, the suburbs and the Shore are offering holiday cocktails. 

You'll find a green martini, a hot toddy, a drink made with Mad Elf and other festive concoctions in the roundup below.

W XYZ at Aloft Philadelphia Downtown

The lively W XYZ bar in new hotel Aloft Philadelphia Downtown will give back this December by donating $1 from each sale of their new CandyCane Beer Cocktail to Philabundance.

The Candy Cane Beer Cocktail at W XYZ is made with Tröegs Mad Elf, a ruby red ale that tastes of cherries, honey and cocoa.

Absolut vanilla vodka, peppermint schnapps, grenadine and Sprite are mixed with the festive beer to make the bright drink.

Through December, the bar will be donating $1 from each sale of the new holiday cocktail to Philabundance, the area’s largest hunger relief organization.

Miracle Pop-Up Bar

IVT on East Passyunk is decked out for the holidays with twinkling lights, pine cones and stockings. It, along with 50 other locations around the world, are hosting pop-up Miracle bars.

Each pop-up will serve the same list of "holiday cheer." Whether in Philly or Paris or Panama City, you'll find the Snowball Old-Fashioned, The Gimlet Stole Christmas, Run Run Rudolph and many more festively named cocktails on the menu.

Cuba Libre offers its take on a classic Puerto Rican holiday cocktail. The bar's El Coquito, an eggnog-like drink, is made with spiced rum, rum cream, coconut cream, half & half and nutmeg.

Earl's New American serves a hot toddy called “Worth the Wait” that uses Granny Smith apples.

This Peddler's Village restaurant is serving the Worth the Wait Cocktail this holiday season. The hot toddy is made with bourbon infused with Granny Smith apples. To make, the bar takes fresh apples, cuts them into cubes and lets the fruit sit in the bourbon for about five days.

The other ingredients in the drink are warm apple cider, fresh lemon juice and honey.

Try and grab a seat by the fireplace to enjoy the warm drink.
