A torrential downpour soaks food trucks on Monday night in the media compound at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. It was the second sustained thunderstorm of the day.

On a sweltering and humid Monday to kick off the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, the clouds finally gathered late in the afternoon and burst with torrential rains.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southeastern Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia, that will remain in effect until 11:15 p.m.

At the Wells Fargo Center, members of the media were told to leave their tents as a precaution due to lightning. Several reporters tweeted scenes from inside the tents.

Outside Philadelphia, areas such as Lansdale and Conshocken were pelted with rock-sized hail.

Showers and thunderstorms will likely remain in the area before 10 p.m. and could potentially bring damaging winds.

PECO reported that thousands of customers have been affected by outages throughout the Philadelphia area. Current information can be found at PECO's outage map.
