A meeting is scheduled Wednesday to go over plans to develop a Business Improvement District within Philadelphia’s Italian Market.
As the Passyunk Post reports, creating an improvement district that centers on the South Philadelphia 9th Street Market could bring safety improvements, like the installation of cameras and more lighting; additional maintenance; advertising efforts; and more.
This all would be funded by local business owners and 9th Street cart vendors, residential properties with two or more units and vacant lots zoned for commercial or industrial use, the Post reports.
The Post shared a graph of the fund allocations, including the proposed Business Improvement District services budget of $145,200, the existing association’s services budget of $190,000 and the shared services budget of $98,800.
The meeting Wednesday is an informational session and will be held at 5:30 p.m. at St. Maron’s at 1013 Ellsworth St.
