Jazz great Al Jarreau sings with Camden students.

Students at three local high schools are getting the chance to perform under the guidance of jazz legend Al Jarreau.

The Grammy Award-winning artist, who is the only singer to win the award in jazz, pop and gospel, is working with students from Camden's Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy, as well as Philadelphia's Girard Academic Music Program and String Theory Performing Arts Charter School.

During his residency, students are receiving individual critique and feedback from the musical great and have the chance to talk with him “to gain advice about what it takes to live the life of a professional artist on the road,” a press release from the Mann Center stated.

The residency will end Thursday, Feb. 19, with a collaborative student performance with the artist.
