Business owners to share stories of immigration during restaurant crawl

The event is part of National Welcoming Week in Philadelphia

Events Restaurants
Mixto D. Cruz/Visit Philadelphia™

This restaurant serves up a blend of Cuban, Latin American and Caribbean cuisines on Pine Street, commonly known as Antique Row. During the warmer months, diners can feast on their large portions outside, and on weekends, they can enjoy brunch offerings.

Each September, the city of Philadelphia's Office of Immigrant Affairs participates in National Welcoming Week by hosting events. During Welcoming Week, "communities bring together immigrants and U.S.-born residents in a spirit of unity to raise awareness of the benefits of welcoming everyone – including new Americans," according to the organization Welcoming America.

This year, Welcoming Week takes place Sept. 16-26. One of the events in Philadelphia is a bar/food crawl on Sept. 23.

During the crawl, local business owners will share their immigrant stories with attendees. The food along the crawl is inspired by Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico, Cuba and other Latin American and Caribbean countries.

The four restaurants on the crawl are Salsa on the Square, Las Cazuelas, Los Gallos and Mixto.
