Person struck, killed by Amtrak train in Chester County

SEPTA forced to suspend Paoli/Thorndale Line

An Amtrak train struck and killed a person on Wednesday night near SEPTA's Devon station in Chester County, according to authorities.

Philly.com reports that the train was traveling between Philadelphia and Harrisburg when the unidentified person was hit just after 7:00 p.m and pronounced dead at the scene.

A SEPTA spokesman said that the Paoli/Thorndale line was suspended, while some passengers were taken off trains to be transported by shuttle buses. Service was reportedly restored around 8:40 p.m., causing expected delays of up to 30 minutes.
