A U-Haul truck containing some $37,000 worth of bicycles, parts and equipment — all belonging to the Wounded Warrior Project — had been reported stolen Aug. 13 from a hotel in Tinicum Township, Delaware County.

The complainant told Tinicum police that he had parked a 16-foot U-Haul truck, a 2007 Ford E450, in the hotel parking lot the prior night. When he awoke the next morning, he said the truck and its contents were missing. The truck contained at least three Trek road bikes and three Trek hybrid bikes.

On Tuesday, Philadelphia police received information received a tip saying the stolen bikes and parts were inside a garage on the 4100 block of Sterling Street. Major Crimes Investigators later observed Bowman remove a Trek racing bicycle from his silver Chevy Trailblazer and place it inside the property, police said.

Police obtained and executed a search warrant at the property. They placed Bowman under arrest.
