Police fatally shoot pit bull attacking woman in North Philadelphia

The dog was still attached to the woman's legs when police arrived

Police were called to the 3200 block of North American Street in North Philadelphia late Thursday for reports of a pit bull attacking a woman, 6ABC reports.

According to reports, the dog, which was on a leash, lunged toward the woman, bit her arms and latched onto her legs.

The dog was still attached to the woman's legs when police arrived, forcing authorities to shoot and kill the animal.

Police are investigating the incident, including interviewing the dog's owner.
