Eagles-Giants injury report, with analysis: 'Who cares?' edition

The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants will play a game this Sunday that is completely meaningless to the outcome of the 2015 season, but does has other future ramifications, such as draft position, the Eagles' schedule in 2016, and the health of Eagles players going forward.

Eagles can theoretically reclaim value of second-round pick with loss to Giants

If the Eagles lose on their meaningless game this Sunday to the Giants, they will clinch a draft spot of 11th overall or better. They can draft as high as ninth overall depending on the outcomes of the Buccaneers and Saints games. If they win, however, they will draft no higher than 13th, and could draft as low as 17th.

Eagles defensive coordinator Bill Davis does not think he'll be with the team in 2016

Before heading out onto the practice field Wednesday afternoon, Eagles defensive coordinator Bill Davis stopped for a minute to chat with a small handful of reporters. He said that he does not think he'll be retained as the team's defensive coordinator in 2016.

Eagles and Giants will both try to win a game they shouldn't

Have any Giants fan friends? Maybe you should switch jerseys with them this week, because the winner of the Eagles-Giants game this Sunday will very much be the overall loser.

Jeffrey Lurie explains timing of Chip Kelly's firing

Typically, when head coaches are fired from their jobs in the NFL, they are let go on "Black Monday," or the day after the Week 17 slate of Sunday games. In the Eagles' case, they announced the "release" of Chip Kelly on Tuesday night the week before the final game. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said they chose to do it that way for 3 reasons.

Could the Eagles move to a 4-3 defense?

One of Chip Kelly's shortcomings as a head coach was that players were forced to adjust to his scheme, and not the other way around. A prime example of this was Kelly's insistence on having a 3-4 defense, despite defensive personnel that did not fit a 3-4. For example, players like Brandon Graham, Trent Cole and Vinny Curry, who were clearly best as 4-3 defensive ends, were forced to play far outside their comfort zone, either as outside linebackers or as 3-4 defensive ends.

The Eagles' next head coach would ideally be a 'quarterback guru'

The only team with a more unstable quarterback position in the NFL than the Eagles has been the lowly, doormat Cleveland Browns. The Eagles aren't winning jack until that changes.

It wasn't all bad: Chip Kelly left positive impressions on many Eagles players

With the fallout of Jeffrey Lurie's decision to move on from Chip Kelly as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, much of the focus is understandably on figuring out what went wrong and why. Much of that includes Kelly's relationships with his players, which are perceived as largely negative. That is certainly not an "across-the-board" sentiment, as many players took positives away from Kelly's approach.

If the Eagles fire Bill Davis, Chip Kelly has to go, too

With the Eagles' season over, we began polling our readers on which coaches and players should stay or go in 2016. In the coaching series, there was an overwhelmingly strong push to fire defensive coordinator Bill Davis. Ninety-one percent of over 2000 voters think Davis should be fired, while only 28 percent think Chip Kelly should get the ax.
