Thornton wasn't a big threat as an interior pass rusher, as he had just four sacks and one forced fumble in his four-plus year career. However, he was very good against the run. In 2013 and 2014, Thornton had 112 tackles, an outstanding number for an interior defensive lineman. Thornton's play fell off some in 2015, when he was hampered by hand and ankle injuries.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers are discussing a trade for Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick. That possibility has been rumored in NFL media circles since at least the Senior Bowl back in January, but Schefter's report is the first to state the teams are actively talking. There was no way the Eagles were going to keep Sanchez around after handing out lucrative deals to both Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel. Sanchez was set to count for $5.5 million against the cap in 2016. Had the Eagles released him, they would have saved $3.5 million of that. By trading him, they'll save $4.5 million. Sanchez will count for $1 million in "dead money."

The Eagles announced that the have signed yet another Bills defender who played under Jim Schwartz in Buffalo. This time, it's cornerback Ron Brooks, who agreed to a three-year deal. Earlier today, the Eagles signed former Bills LB Nigel Bradham; yesterday they signed CB Leodis McKelvin.
