He spent the prior year covering state and local politics, including a $4 million Pennsylvania state Senate race. McGinty defeats Sestak to win Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate

Katie McGinty has defeated Joe Sestak and John Fetterman to win the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, according to the Associated Press. With more than 57 percent of ballots counted in Pennsylvania, McGinty had received nearly 45 percent of the vote to Sestak's 34 percent and Fetterman's 21 percent. All vote totals remain unofficial.

A teacher's aide and coach at Conestoga High School has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student. Christine Towers, 26, of Phoenixville, Chester County, was charged Thursday with institutional sexual assault, child endangerment and corruption of minors.
