A new master plan for the Sports Complex in South Philadelphia calls for a 5,500-seat concert venue, new restaurants and retail, and a 250-room hotel, Comcast Spectacor announced. The first phase of the proposed development could be completed as soon as 2028. A second phase calls for a residential community with new apartments, offices and green space.

'The Watchers' is the upcoming supernatural thriller from Ishana Shyamalan, the daughter of director M. Night Shyamalan. A trailer for the movie was released Tuesday. The film stars Dakota Fanning and Georgina Campbell and it is Shyamalan's directorial debut.

NBA G League player Terry Roberts, of the Long Island Nets, was seriously injured in a shooting in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia on Sunday morning. The 23-year-old was shot once in the chest outside the 5th Street Lounge on the 5900 block of North 5th Street, police said. He's expected to make a full recovery, according to the team. An investigation is ongoing.

Xfinity Live! is set to undergo a $12 million renovation project that will include upgrades to its plaza in hopes of making it more accommodating to festivals and community events. The upgrades to the Sports Complex venue are expected to be completed by early 2026. The work will be done in phases to allow Xfinity Live! to remain open.

Pennsylvania's first self-driving shuttle service will debut Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at the Navy Yard campus in South Philadelphia. The wheelchair-accessible van initially will operate Mondays thru Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, making four stops on a 2-mile loop. The project is viewed as an important step forward in Pennsylvania's effort to build a safe, reliable industry for self-driving vehicles.

Comedian Shane Gillis has reached a deal with Netflix to stream a new comedy series that will premiere in May. Gillis, who just hosted "Saturday Night Live" following his infamous firing in 2019, also will get a follow-up to his hit Netflix stand-up special "Beautiful Dogs."

Milk Jawn plans to open a store in Northern Liberties in June, expanding from its first shop in East Passyunk. It will replace the recently closed Just Cravings, another ice cream shop on Second Street. Heritage, the bar and jazz venue further south, announced it will close March 10 after nine years in the neighborhood.

A ram that escaped from a property in Mount Laurel, New Jersey was captured Friday morning by police after it had been loose in the township for several days. The chase came after a horse escaped from a stable in Philadelphia and was seen galloping down I-95 in a viral video. Both incidents are the latest in a string of unusual animal escapes that have happened in the Philly region over the last decade.
