Cheltenham Township is working to fix a giant sinkhole that opened up along Chelten Hills Drive between Church Road and Rodgers Road. The township vented on social media about residents ignoring a road closure and pedestrians approaching the sinkhole to look inside.

Amazon Fresh supermarket to open in Delaware County amid ongoing expansion

Amazon Fresh will open its second grocery store in Pennsylvania at the Broomall Commons Shopping Center in Delaware County. Signage was put up at the store this week, but there is no firm timetable for a grand opening. Last year, Amazon Fresh opened its first store in the state in Warrington. Plans are in place for another store in Bensalem, Bucks County, and additional stores are rumored in Philadelphia as the e-commerce giant's grocery business expands.

Fans mourn death of Jack Kehler, Philly native who played The Dude's landlord in 'The Big Lebowski'

Character actor Jack Kehler, a Philadelphia native who had iconic bit parts in "The Big Lebowski" and "The Last Boy Scout," died at 75 years old. Kehler's family said he died as a result of complications from leukemia. His most enduring role is the Coen Brothers' 1998 classic "The Big Lebowski," in which he played Marty, the landlord of Jeff Bridges' The Dude, and performed a modern dance quintet.

Homeless veteran housing completed at historic Art Deco school building in North Philly

The former Gen. John F. Reynolds School in North Philadelphia's Sharswood neighborhood has been converted into affordable housing for homeless and low-income veterans, seniors and people with disabilities. The Art Deco-style building was constructed in 1925-26 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The project was led by HELP USA, a Brooklyn-based non-profit that has built five other veteran-focused affordable housing projects in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Zoo's new African cattle have massive, magnificent horns

The Philadelphia Zoo added three Ankole-Watusi cattle, a domesticated African breed known for its enormous, crescent-shaped horns, to its African Plains exhibit. The Ankole are descendants of Egyptian long-horned cattle that once lived along the Nile River around 4000 BC. The animals are primarily kept for dairy milk and are not usually raised for meat. They are friendly, gentle creatures found among herders in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo and parts of Tanzania.

Camden waterfront concert venue inks deal on latest name change

The 25,000-seat amphitheater on the Camden waterfront will now be known as Freedom Mortgage Pavilion after operator Live Nation reached a naming rights deal with the mortgage company based in Boca Raton, Florida. The venue has had five naming rights partners since its debut in 1995. The most recent name was BB&T Bank Pavilion from 2015-2022, when Truist and Live Nation mutually ended their agreement.

Worker killed at Ocean City's Wonderland Pier had fallen after concrete slab collapsed, company says

Robert Sanger, 62, of Pittsgrove, New Jersey, died on May 2 at Gillian's Wonderland Pier in Ocean City. Sanger fell from a lift after a concrete slab collapsed underneath him. The accident is being investigated by OSHA.

Pennsylvania race for open U.S. Senate seat is a focal point for party control in Washington, D.C.

The 2022 U.S. Senate race in Pennsylvania is a pivotal battleground in the United States. The May 17 primary will set up November's general election for the seat previously held by Republican Sen. Pat Toomey, who is retiring from politics. John Fetterman and Conor Lamb are the leading candidates among Democrats, while Mehmet Oz, Dave McCormick and Kathy Barnette are in a tight race for the Republican ticket.

Adam Sandler's 'Hustle,' filmed in Philly, gets new trailer ahead of June debut on Netflix

Netflix's 'Hustle,' staring Adam Sandler as a 76ers scout, premieres on the streaming platform June 8. The movie, filmed in Philadelphia and the surrounding region, is Sandler's character attempting to jumpstart the NBA career of a troubled overseas prospect while saving his own job. Scenes were shot at locations in Center City, the Italian Market, North Philly, South Philly, Manayunk, Chester, Coatesville and Camden.
