Wilmington native and WNBA star Elena Delle Donne had a historic night last week.
In a game against the Atlanta Dream on June 24, the Chicago Sky guard and University of Delaware graduate scored a career-high 45 points and set a league record with 19 consecutive made free throws in a 100-96 victory.
Despite her impressive performance, a number of Twitter users decided to try and knock her down a peg following the game.
In doing so, several tweets dissed not only the Philadelphia 76ers:
@SportsCenter @WNBA Could start for the Sixers 😂😂

But also the entire state of Delaware:
@WNBA @De11eDonne @wnbachicagosky still soft, though. #DelawareSucks

Della Done didn't let the haters get a pass this time around. In a variation of Jimmy Kimmel's famous "Mean Tweets" segment, she called out not only those two Twitter users but also a slew of sexist and offensive comments made following her career night.
Despite the naysayers, things continue to go well for Della Donne. She's currently second in WNBA All-Star voting, and will be featured on an upcoming CNN segment discussing sexism and women's sports.
Just spoke w/the @wnba's talented & inspirational @De11eDonne about sexism in women's sport. Coming up on @cnnsport pic.twitter.com/RDWB43PlDf
