As an Eagles fan, actor Ryan Phillippe knows pain. Which is why he gave his son an out.
Phillippe, of "I Know What You Did Last Summer" fame, grew up a Birds fan in Delaware. But his son Deacon was born on the other side of the country. Speaking with For The Win, Phillippe said he gave his son an option:
When Deacon became an avid sports fan, he urged him not to root for them.
“I tried to give him a way out, he was in born in Los Angeles. I said, ‘Son you don’t have to bear the burden of failure that comes along with being an Eagles fan,'” Phillippe said. “But he said, ‘No Dad I’m an Eagles fan’ and he loves them.”
Kudos to Deacon for sticking with the Birds. At the age of 13, he’s past the grace period for kids to switch their sports allegiances without being considered bandwagon fans. This season, unfortunately, may be making him regret his decision.
Phillippe also told USA Today he thought the future of the team was bright, especially with rookie quarterback Carson Wentz at the helm. You can read his entire interview with FTW here.
