Bitter cold hits the Philadelphia region this week.

Camden County will be under a “Code Blue” severe weather advisory Friday and Saturday night, the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services has declared.

The advisory goes into effect at 6 p.m. through 7 a.m. Saturday, and from 6 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday.

When the health department declares a Severe Weather Emergency, towns with homeless populations are expected to activate their Code Blue response plan to shelter the homeless.

“It will be bitterly cold and windy over the next two nights. Before leaving the house, please dress yourself and your children in warm clothing, hats and gloves,” said Camden County Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez.  “We need everyone to be sheltered and out of the elements during the severe weather.  Also, please remember to check on elderly relatives and neighbors and bring your pets indoors.”
